We were delighted to host the Muslim Chaplaincy Association (MCA) meeting at Flowhesion in December 2022. The MCA is a body that represents chaplains working in UK prisons and also works to support rehabilitation of Muslim prisoners on release.
over 120 Chaplains from Uk prisons attended the Flowhesion foundation HQ in Bolton for this meeting. It was a very eventful day with lots of discussion and engagement. In attendance was the chair of the MCA Imam Talha Ahmed. He is also the managing chaplain of HMP Liverpool. We were delighted to have in attendance for the full day Tim Allen CBE (pictured) who is the regional prison director (RPD) for Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside. Tim discussed the importance of such networks, the prison estate’s forward strategy, shared positive experiences and revisited discussions he had with chaplaincy across the estate.
Said Imam Shoaib Vaka, head of prison and probation programmes at Flowhesion,’ The Foundation has steadily grown its probation delivery footprint across the North west. We are involved with all 15 Northwest approved premises through our new horizons programme. Having chaplains with us for a day was great, many of them are colleagues from across the secure estate i have worked with for many years. We were able to share best practice, learn from each other and think about more partnership and joint working with the secure estate and through the gate services we provide’.
